I loved his back story and learning about his relationship with Amos. He was the absolute best grump to her sunshine. Rhodes is one of the grumpiest characters I have ever read, but of course, the gruff exterior houses a heart of pure gold! He did some of the sweetest things for Aurora, and I loved watching him fall for her. This book is undoubtedly one of found family, and I loved how much that played a part. I also loved Aurora’s and Amos’s relationship. It did make the age gap between her and Rhodes, which was about ten years, seem a bit larger., I loved how she really found her strength and herself through the book. I found Aurora slightly immature, but it made sense, given how she grew up and the life she led. But I loved how the story unfolded here. The lead character, Aurora, is an upbeat, almost painfully optimistic woman well on the road to self-discovery (which would also normally make me stabby - if I want cheer and upbeat feelings, Ill go eat a doughnut and pretend its helping me lose weight). President Barack Obama must have spent last week wondering if he’d stumbled back into the 1980s as he responded to new Iranian aggressions in the Strait of Hormuz and ordered the Navy’s 5th Fleet to escort ships transiting the Persian Gulf. Her first novel, a prairie love story titled Love Comes Softly, was published by Bethany House in 1979. Though she yearned to be a published novelist, she devoted herself to being a wife and mother because, she says, "there is no higher honor-that is my number-one priority." She began serious writing when her children were entering their teens. Edward eventually became president of Mountain View Bible College and recently established a coalition of colleges that became Rocky Mountain Bible College.ĭuring her earliest years, Janette sensed the desire to write. After graduating from Mountain View Bible College in Canada where she met her husband, Edward, they pastored churches in Canada and the U.S., and they raised their family of four children, including twin boys, in both countries. Janette was born during the depression years to a Canadian prairie farmer and his wife, and she remembers her childhood as full of love and laughter and family love. She also writes engaging children's stories and inspiring gift books that warm the heart. With over 23 million in sales, her historical novels portray the lives of early North American settlers from many walks of life and geographical settings. Janette Oke writes with a profound simplicity of what she knows best-real life, honest love, and lasting values. But you could argue his impact has been more profound on other players throughout the roster. The rhythm he established with Joel Embiid in the middle of the floor leveraged the gifts of both players beautifully, as Harden’s ability to find Embiid with pocket passes earned him at least a few easy buckets every game. That is the best possible endorsement you can make of a player who embraced a role that we know now he was not necessarily thrilled about.įar removed from his days as an apex-predator scorer, Harden has become the balanced point guard the Sixers appeared to need during the Ben Simmons years. If James Harden was in the lineup, the Sixers had a path to being the best offense in basketball. Coming off of a productive yet typically confounding year, Harden is set to assess his options in free agency, and the Sixers will have to make a decision on just how much they value Harden's contributions to the franchise. James Harden was perhaps the biggest Sixers question mark heading into the 2022-23 season, and you could argue that holds true after the season has come to a close. The show is a masterclass in how not to write a thriller so, instead of tearing this baffling new viewing option from Netflix down, let’s see what we can learn from it instead. The premise is solid, if not the most original, but the series as a whole misses the mark so widely you wonder if they were even aiming for a target. However, not all is as it appears, and Louise finds herself pulled into a tangled mystery that is darker than she ever could have imagined. This six-episode series follows a single mother, Louise ( Simona Brown ) as she balances entering an affair with her boss David ( Tom Bateman ) and striking up a close friendship with his wife Adele ( Eve Hewson ). The streaming giant’s latest endeavor into this formula is the psychological thriller ‘Behind Her Eyes’, based on the novel by Sarah Pinborough. Some of these have been better than others, from the stellar ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and ‘The Mess You Leave Behind’ to the less impressive ‘Firefly Lane’. Netflix seems to have found their new go-to formula limited series based on best-selling books. What are some of your family’s favorites? Let us know in the comments!
